My Philosophy:

  • Construct a healthy way of life that is based on a real world perspective. (We recommend unprocessed foods and   nutritional information. We do not sell packaged food or have a alternate way to track food intake like points.)
  • You will learn meditation and basic yoga as a way to strengthen the mind-body connection, reduce stress, and improve awareness in our choices.

How It Works

My program is based on a theory that draws, in part, on research done by Dr. Candice Pert, Dr. Herbert Benson, and Psychologist Edward Tollman, as well as eastern philosophies. Buddhists state that our  main issue in life is that all humans suffer. Which, of course, is true. You can't go through life and not suffer.

I will assert here that many humans equate food with comfort, as our mothers' milk calmed us when we were infants. For a great many of us, food (especially "comfort foods") brings a sense of ease to us in some way. To put it clinically, we have reached a point when many of us are attempting to suppress suffering with the comfort of food. 

By doing so, you are engaging in an activity that stimulates a chemical secretion that produces an effect in your brain that brings about the desired comfort. It is that sensation that we are addicted to.

Seeking that comfort from infancy is the chemical reaction happening on a level far below our conscious thoughts.

I have found that through conscious awareness and cognitive mapping we can change these behavior patterns into healthy behaviors.

Dr. Herbert Benson's research shows how meditation and the right kind of slow breathing exercises cause changes in the autonomic nervous system and hypothalamus and increased brain activity correlated with positive emotions, changes in states of consciousness, and improvement in the immune system.

While Frank Lawlis, PhD has done research that shows remapping neural pathways occurs when the more we experience the same thought or behavior, the stronger that neural pathway holding that thought or behavior will become.

We get the opposite affect when we don't repeat the old patterns; those pathways weaken over time.

What I am saying is that if we learn to live consciously through the practice of meditation techniques we can change the patterns in our lives and overcome the cycle of losing weight just to gain it all back.

Further more, as state, it will improve your overall sense of well-being, when you factor in the improvement due to healthy dietary decisions and physical activity choices. Made possible with techniques that help to keep your mind in the present and goals that help you to see, step-by-step and week-by-week, that you have the strength to be the healthy person you have envisioned for so long.

A Different Perspective

 

I am not your typical health and fitness professional. If that’s what your after, you should move on now! If, however, you are ready to make real changes in your life, then you’ve found the right place.

 

I grew up as an overweight child and have fought to lose weight my entire adult life. I have done the yo-yo dieting for years, losing and gaining through lots of the commercially available diet plans.

 

The conclusion I’ve come to? Diet plan don’t work for the majority of us. What we all need is a healthy life balance. Once you find that, the rest falls into place.

 

I will work with you to find the balance that will help your overall health and fitness. To find a balance with work, family, stress, depression and personal time so that you can achieve what really matter to you – being a healthy, happy individual.

 

I will work with you to discover the path that will work for you. What works for one person, doesn’t necessarily work for another. That is why you and I can work as a team to find the things that appeal to you and the habits will stay with you for the rest of your life.
